BJP’s chain marketing plan to enrol 3-crore new members into party in UP

The BJP is adopting the strategy of chain marketing in order to achieve the target of enroling around 3 crore members into the party in Uttar Pradesh before October.
Under its fresh membership campaign in the state, the party has already brought on board around 75 lakh members and hopes to achieve the set target before time, a party official said.
Under the chain marketing strategy, different targets have been set for different position holders to achieve as far as the number of people they can get into the party is concerned.
A common active worker is expected to add 100 members, while an MP is expected to add 20,000 members. An MLA has to add 10,000 members, while the corresponding number for a Mayor will be 20,000 for the Mayor, 5,000 for the Municipality President, 2,000 for the Nagar Panchayat President, and 1,000 each for Corporation Councillor and Municipality Councillor.
For membership purposes, a link has been created, which a party leader will send to other people and the number of people who then become members through it will increase the count of that leader. This is also expected to keep a tab on the party leaders’ performance throughout the drive.
When the party started its membership campaign, it was decided that 200 new members would be added at each booth. There are about 1,68,000 booths in UP. Hence, more than 3 crore members are targeted to be added to the BJP party fold in the state.
Through this chain marketing strategy, BJP leaders expect they could achieve the 3-crore member target before October, when the active membership drive kicks-off.
